13th-Jul-2006 01:08 pm - Doukutsu Monogataryi - Cave Story

Hello hello!!! Long time without an update! It's a pleasure for me to get something to post that it's really worthy for the mission of this journal.

I've been a fan of videogames for a long time, since the 8-bit times. But recently a piece of freeware has caughted my attention. Something that seems to belong here, but it's quite new in the net. I'm talking about Doukutsu Monogatari. This little jewel has the classic feeling of plataform genre games like Metroid, Megaman and Contra, yet some crazy shooting action of Gradius series, amazingly joint with RPG elements, excellent gameplay and a very good plot.

It's quite hard to describe it to new generations, but oldbies will feel very happy with this (as well as the younger ones). Recommend this with a pad, so you don't have to feel some wrist pain for playing on a keyboard, but the control it's so acurrate and responsive, that it will be the only thing that will incomodate you =3 Not for nothing the creator, Pixel, spent 5 years tweaking it to make one of the best games ever.

Multiple endings, secret areas, hidden items and challenges will keep you very busy with this game, very lenghty considering it's for free. It took me 6 hours to finish it first in the easiest path, I'll go and try for the hardest to get the true final.

So be prepared to be amazed by huge amounts of fans when this thing make an appearance on consoles next year.

You can download it in: http://www.gameflaws.com/cavestory/
Go for the Deluxe version. It's quite easier than the old patching way.

(Sauce and Raizy/Chu, thank you so much for insisting to play this game ^o^ )

25th-Jan-2006 11:29 pm - Pump It Up! Zero

So good, so long have been waiting for the next Andamiro's release. This new version of PIU is the heaven for the Speeder Stylers. For the ones who haven't heard of Pump It Up (PIU), this is a game were you use your feets to play at the rithm of the music. It's pretty much like DDR and the like, but it uses 5 arrows instead of just 4, enabling a more fluid, natural and challenging gameplay. You can found the official website at: http://www.piugame.com/

This new version it's a great change from the previous version, Exceed2. For starters, the graphics were greatly revamped, as so was the interface. Now at the select song screen you can see bits of the featured Background Videos from the song you're selecting. The BPM is now shown, and the way you choose the channels and dificulties is completely new. For one time again, the players can choose diferent levels for the song.

There is also several changes into the game modes. First, we have the same two modes from Exceed versions: Arcade Station and Remix Station. They are almost the same as their predecesors. 20 new songs were added to the Arcade Station and 3 to the Remix Station. There were some removals too. The new songs are:

[Banya Channel]
BanYa - Beat Of the War 2
BanYa - Moonlight
BanYa - Love is a Danger Zone pt. 2
BanYa - Phantom
BanYa - Papa Gonzales
BanYa - Jump

[K-POP Channel]
Drunken Tiger - Emergency!
Cho PD - My Friend
Eugene - Wutering Heights
Lazy Bone - Do It Yourself
Turtle - What's Going On?
Eun Ji Won - All Famy
Louis - Chung Hwa Ban Jeom
Spooky Banana - Mr. Fire Fighter
T.o - Footprints
JTL - Enter the Dragon
Perry - STORM
Mina - Turn Around

[POP Channel]
Pandera - I love You Baby
Cachy Huang - Up Up

[Remix Station]
BanYa - Love is a Danger Zone 2 Full
BanYa - K-Hip-Hop Mix VOL.1
BanYa - K-House Mix VOL.1

Worth to comment is that, as Exceed2 Featured Banya's Canon-D as the main song, we got this time a new remix called Love is a Danger Zone 2. This song is wicked and totally cool, and it's a great challenge for the ultimate top players, featuring a maximun of 23 difficulty rating for the Remix version (3 more than Canon-D).

All the new song's are extremely challenging. Seems Andamiro made contact with the top tier players around the world, saw what they were capable of, and decided it was time to increase the challenge. This level of hardcore gameplay will put at test stress the machines, which seems the most solid and sturdy to date.

Also, a new channel was open as a big fanservice. It's the 'Another' Channel, that features some songs with extremely insane steps!!! This is were PIUZ touches the insanity. All of this new steps are unlockeable via the Mission mode.

Mission mode is the substitution for the "Battle Mode", Which I see as a bad loss. Anyway, Mission modes is about doing some songs with mods that will challenge your dancing skills. If you manage to clear the stages, you'll unlock some rewards as new arrow skins, new step charts for another channel... maybe some surprises that Andamiro is still having on their sleeves.

Maybe you'll think that this new release is only for professionals then. Think it twice!!! The last game mode is Easy Station, which will guide you from a rookie begginer on the dance flor, to a hardcore player. Multiple helps, guides and a easy going gameplay will not discourage you from learning some cool moves.

Going to the technical realm, the platfor has changed from Andamiro MK-5 to a MK-6. A comparision between them shows why they new machine performs a lot better:

[Andamiro MK-5]

-CPU INTEL CELERON 1 GHZ

-RAM 128 MB

-NVIDIA NV11 GRAPHIC CARD

-640 X 480 @ 60 HZ VIDEO OUTPUT

- >40GB HDD

[Andamiro MK-6]

-CPU INTEL CELERON 2.4 GHZ

-RAM 256 MB DDR (Up to 4GB)

-NVIDIA GEFORCE FX 5200 128MB VRAM GRAPHIC CARD

-640 X 480 @ 60 HZ VIDEO OUTPUT

-40GB HDD

Not only a new engine but a whole new machine, a brand new experience. I only played it twice, because where it shows, it crowds. But seeing its performance is delightfull, the best version to date. If you love Dance simulation games and see one of this cabins, don't think it twice. You'll not regret it.
23rd-Jan-2006 03:55 pm - Pocket Monsters
Hello, long time without writing a LJ entry. My real life sucks, but I don't loss my faith. I'm now a rep (again), and my career crumbles... my love life is doing it so, but I'll guess I'll survive. Enough of this... that's beyond the focus of this Blog. I have already put all my toughts on my personal blog. Let's get down to bussiness ^^;

I have joined a pair of comunities. The first one is AnimeDatabes.org, wich is a community with the goal of making the anime's world's widest database. I'm currently voting and writing reviews. Of course, my first entry (that hasn't been aproved yet) is Pocket Monsters. You can found it here:

http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=animeatt&aid=230

I'll be adding more, and also I will notice about the new reviews and essays here too, pasting the links.

The second community is #PocketMonsters IRC channel on dejatoons. You can reach the website of the community in http://www.pocketmonsters.net , in which you'll found torrents to japanese version of Pokémon, Fansubber group and DVD-Rip releases. Join in for a nice chat too on the channel, meanwhile you get the whole series via the Fserves and XDCC Bots. I have got a ton of videos from there, really neat stuff.

Ok, and that's all for now folks. I'm hoping to write more entries soon, as long as my job, that I still need to get, let me do it so.
27th-Oct-2005 10:14 pm - Temporal Goodbye to my cyber life.
I'll put a hyatus to all of this... with all my career at risk, I can't hold this style of life anymore.

Today at CTF's at HHR:

CTF: This will be one of my last post in a good amount of time. So many crap has happened today. WORST DAY EVER... I'm in risk of screw my entire career T_T And I can't keep up... my chest hurts, my stomach is going to eat me, I'm falling asleep almost always... I feel horrible anguish.

I'm so sorry, but I hope many of you my friends can understand that now I have a big choice in front of me, and the weight of my burden is now too much for me. I will sacrifice the contact with my friends and my hobbies, and all that stuff that I love so much to do, for the sake of saving my future. GOD... I'm supossed to be like a young adult and I haven't did nothing worthwhile ;-; Good thing is that I have decided to just cut out all that Torianna junk I have. As I'm posting this, I will tell her goodbye forever... the most hard thing I have made, cuz even if I loved her, this "love" isn't that anymore... that feeling just made me more sad and hopeless and it was just sickening me... and poisoning me... I just want that out of my life for once, and settled and over.

I don't know what I'll become... I just want to have the will to not to become like my parents... if I can... even if they were with me, at the same time, they weren't with me... hehe I feel myself like a orphan in that way. I don't know what I am.

It was nice to meet you all ^^; Everybody (I mean EVERYBODY) has helped me to understand more the English (and their speakers =3), it's something I always will apreciate. Let's place this like a temporal goodbye, hopefully I'll be back for holidays and maybe the last one thing I'd like to share would be my photo at the Anime Convention as Fye XD, if i got the mood to do it anyway.

BTW, Nice shoes Sonar. I don't understand how women can stand the heels X3

Adios amigos, mucho gusto el haber compartido este tiempo con ustedes. Desde el fondo de mi corazón <3

And if you're worried or sad about me, don't be ^^; I'll be fine and I'll still be on the Internet, but I'll not be so public like this. If you see me log in on AIM or stuff like that, be happy, cuz that means I'm still alive and working on my computer ^__^

Bye-Q

That's it... I'll not be a public person for a good amount of time. See ya until all this crap gets fixed and I'm not in "la cuerda floja" anymore.

24th-Oct-2005 03:03 am - Electronic Game Show 2005
The Electronic Game Show is all of an a event ^______^. I'm working on the Pokémon TCG area as an "Expositor" ^^

The link for the EGS page is: http://www.electronicgameshow.com/
We got some exclusive news, showcases, events, tournaments and such.

It's really very tiring working there... It's not all glamour because you work along with celebrities of the field. This is because you have to yell, be a badass sometimes and hyuuush =@ All because the people don't listen and is very stubborn =/
Anyway... I'm scaring, RAAAAAWR =3 because one of my jobs was to not let anyone got IN the booth (stand... whatever is called XD).
But I'm really tired, I can just take like maximun 1 hour break a day because of all the success we are having. And it's from 9 AM to 8 PM... It's not I'm complaining, but it's too much that now everybody in the staff remembers how yoshable is all of this stuff... >_> good or bad thing is that we will forget all of this in like 8 months, and the EGS is yearly, so we'll be fresh as lettuce for the next year, with a kinda vicious-circle amnesia X3

There are so much good stuff (First of all GORGEOUS MODELS EVERYWHERE O_O... plenty photos of this on my blog is assured ;3), but on other side, the best games are Burnout Revenge, Harry Potter and the goblet of Fire, Mario Kart DS, DDR Mario Mix, Shadow The Hedgehox, Viewtufull Joe 2, Megaman X Collection, Need for Speed Underground Most Wanted, Dungeon Siege 2, Dragon Ball Z Supersonic Warriors 2, Pokémon Colloseum DX Gale of Darkness, and our own exclusive in México, Super Mario Strikers (Soccer game with Mario Characters). It's too little time for me to see it all meanwhile I'm working... nevermind. I'll get paid, and I entered there for free ^^; One day by day i checked all the place, beign in the last day my visit to the Sony's place.

Last day of EGS and we finished earlier today, at 7 PM. I got paid, I won some stuff at the Sony's Eye toy contest (a boxing game. I'm an ace with sensors XD), and showcased in a Pump It Up video (I wonder where it will end). I couldn't test the DDR Mario Mix ;-; I wonder if they will translate it and bring it to america.

Really, this weekend was a blast, even if that was a "work". I'd like to thanks Ives Rountree for the chance he gave me to be on his staff. Anyway, if you live in México City now and you missed it, well... shame on you. Now, back to the reality ^^ got homework to do.

CYA on the EGS 2006 ^^! Now, back to your original schedule.
That's right... after 5 years of wonderfull service, HHK has been deleted forever by the webmaster. As the Hamtaro crazyness dies across America, many strongholds of the wacky hamsters start to fall. The only important remnant known in USA is HHR, and in Mexico and Latinoamerica is Pikaflash forums.

----Quote - Hamtarotroll (Copy from the mail he sent to all HHK members)----

Hello Everyone This is Hamtarotroll from HamHam kingdom. As many of you
know the site is currently offline and not working. I have taken the
site offline perminately. I decided that after 5 years it was time to
finally stop the hamtaro madness. My forum currently get no visitors, the
website also gets no visitors except the episode and movie streaming
pages. NO ONE in the past 2 years have ever THANKED me for the website
or the hard work i have done on the site.I feel everyone just wants to
watch hamtaro and never give anything back. I have spent ALOT of money
on this website (over $5,000 in 5 years!!!) and i have gotten a total of
$2.25 in donations from the website visitors. I can not afford to run a
site that no one is thankful for, nor they have the willingness to
donate money to.

I apoligise if many of you are upset over this, but i thought about
this for the past 6 months and i finally made up my mind about it last
week. This is NOT ninhams fault, this is NOT cloud's fault, this is not
Digi's fault, this is not UYT's fault, this is not HamHaru's fault, and
this is NOT my fault either.

Hamtaro is dead, and i have finally decided it is time for me to flush
the site down the toilet just like hamtaro's been flushed.

If anyone wants to e-mail me about getting movies, ovas, or episodes,
save you time, i dont have them anymore. I deleted all my copied on the
website, so even if i changed my mind in the future, i no longer have
ANY of the episodes, or movies. THEY ALL HAVE BEEN DELETED FOREVER!

Sorry everyone,

-Hamtaro Troll

P.s. I will miss you all, and i hope you all visit HamHam Rivals's
forum and talk more about hamtaro on their forum. Their forum link is
http://invisionfree.com/forums/hamhamrivals/index.php

----end message----

The only Hamtaro legacy that remains, if you don't live in Japan, now are your beautifull memories, your toys, pics and games, your Roleplaying hamhamform (If you have one like me), and the friends you have made by sharing your interest.

If you still like Hamtaro, go and give a good shot at HHR...

Currently we are having some issues, as Abu also quit as Administrator of the forum, just to focus more on his own projects. Safimoyo is the current leader there now, but he haven't enough time and the forum will be renamed and remade, but it's still in works. Maybe new staff and new young blood will inject what is missing... and maybe some new people would help there ;3

I know there are many Hamtaro fans outhere, but the presence on internet outside Japan is minimal. We need more people supporting this ideal of keeping the little Hamsters running, so, why don't you inscribe now?
Hello :) I didn't had (or maybe skipped, I dunno XD) Prob-Stad class and I was wandering around the school. Then, I found Cato near the Networks lab and he invited me to the class :)

It's cool and was enlightening. He have to do a project were two PC comunicates with each other on an ethernet network, all in C. He wants to do a game of Hide & shoot. It's for this Friday, hope he does it in time.

After the experiments and stuff, I suddenly thinked of doing a To-do list here, just for freeing space on my brain XD.
18th-Sep-2005 09:20 am - Star Wars Republic Commando
My brother bringed that game this friday. It's awesome!!! Have neat visual effects, mainly is the HUD. The gameplay is innovative, cuz u depend so much on your squad... so much that even if you fall down in the action, they can bring you back =O
It has a very good display of audiovisual effects and the difficult is very good. The AI of enemys and partners is incredible too. The partners autoheal others and themselves, destroy the targets, but sometimes they get in the line of fire and are a burden. The enemies are intelligent in a believable grade, some very stupid, some very agressive, some pretty much clever.
Music is very good, reminds me a bit of Starcraft. The story is almost minimal tough... it starts in the day 0 of the clone wars, is the same planet as the second chapter of the movie, but on a different location. On all the game you don't stumble with a Jedi (My opinion is that this was a missing part =/ I would have included it), altough you see General Grievous. The game continues to a skirmish in a captured battleship against a Mothership of the UFC and a battle on the planet Karsyyyk, lots of wookies included :D
The game is very short... Alex (My bro) finished it in one day (like 12 hours of game), but the end is not bad, neither the game cuz it's full packed with action. Very recomendable if you like FPS :3
